Last autumn we held 2 special bulb planting events. In early October we arranged a daffodil plant in the long sweep of grass at the back of the building. A group of us met during the week prior to planting, creating holes in the ground to facilitate the actual planting.

The bulbs have been planted in a series of circles and half moons so that the mowing can still be done until the flowers have died back.

Now we have a website up and running, I can post dates and times when the volunteers are going to meet for an afternoon gardening session. The tools and gardening gloves are all there for you to use. And feel free to suggest ideas for things we can do to make the garden even more attractive – but remember, high maintenance ideas require lots of time and effort!

We have had snowdrops donated from Lindsay Rogers and the MacDonalds of Blarour, Spean Bridge.

Then in November the Guides came along and planted crocus and bluebells as part of their annual review challenge badge.

Glengarry Community Centre Landscapers

Do you want to join us? We’re always looking for more volunteers!

Read on and find out more….

Our community centre has been built on a large but uncultivated plot of land. The building itself is very attractive but it was generally agreed that the building would be greatly improved if the whole area around it was tidied and landscaped.

Here we are, proudly
displaying our new tools…..

I should emphasise, we are not particularly knowledgeable gardeners. We just enjoy getting together, in favourable weather and spending a bit of time on basic gardening tasks. Neither have we been over ambitious in our ideas. For eg during the first year we merely lifted stones and boulders from the rough grass so that strimming could be done more easily. Then we tackled the

overgrown strip of land running parallel with the main road. Hope you’ve noticed how much tidier that whole area is!

Do think about joining us.

Refreshment time......
Watch out for a splendid spring show!

Well done girls - we shall soon have flowers nearly as pretty as you

in the lovely weather we've had recently we have been busy clearing more of the undergrowth and planting more snowdrops amongst the crocus.

The snowdrop bulbs have been gifted to us once again by Lindsay Rogers and the MacDonalds of Blarour, Spean Bridge. AND: the village daffodil plant has bloomed!

The land around the hall is looking great! A big thank you to everyone.

Do get in touch with me to find out when we plan to have another gardening session.

The garden volunteers have been noticeable in their absence so far this year- apart from stalwart work from the Guides, planting a row of saplings under the keen eye of Colin and Lee. Colin has also done a first strim under the trees, after the good showing of snowdrops and crocus. A group of us also helped Lee in the grass seeding of the rough strip running along the back of the Hall. Community Service Team did a first strim of the grassed area and thankfully worked around the daffodils.

But the weather is improving! SO, we're having  a session next Monday 13 June at 2pm, weather permitting. There are more snowdrop bulbs to plant, thanks again to Lindsay Rogers, tubs to fill with annuals, and there's a lot of tidying up to do. We're going to stand at the gate entrance as well and have a think about how to make that area more attractive and welcoming (but sorry, have no solutions for the potholes!)

All welcome!  Look forward to seeing you.
